this morning's walk: Carrock Fell

Great Mell Fell and a stormy sky from the start of the climb

fortunately grassy paths now avoid this scree slope

looking back down the path from above the scree

the path passes just above this tree

looking back along the steep east face of Carrock Fell

two pines passed by the steep ascent path

the path is very eroded in places - the road can be seen far below

sheepfold on a flatter part of the fell with the Mell Fells in the distance

the view from the eastern end of Carrock Fell

mist clearing from the wall on the south side of the hill fort

Carrock Fell summit cairn

the wall on the north side of the hill fort

the wall on the south side of the hill fort

ewe looking down towards my descent route

the onward ridge westwards to High Pike

stormy towards Skiddaw ..

.. a stormy sky northeastwards

my grassy descent path

the ford through Carrock Beck

the ascent path can be seen in this shot taken just before I reach the start point
