a Lake District volunteers work party near Fellside in the Back of Skiddaw fells

Skiddaw, Ullock Pike and Dodd from the foot of Bassenthwaite Lake on the way to Fellside

zooming in on Skiddaw and Ullock Pike

the work was to remove the protective cages from the Alder trees in this woodland area

staking the cleared trees - planted by volunteers a few years ago

getting down to the awkward job of clearing the netting from the roots

plenty still to clear in the boggy area below

Ben

what a magnificent tongue!

coffee break

thriving Alders with Brae Fell behind

more cleared trees - the nearby ones still in tubes are other more slow growing varieties
