today's walk: round Buttermere

The Fish as I get off the Honister Rambler bus in Buttermere village

looking across to Sourmilk Gill

High Crag and High Stile in cloud as I approach Buttermere

looking up to High Snockrigg which appears to be cloud free

looking across Buttermere towards Red Pike

not sure if this tree is a victim of recent gales or has been down for a long time

flooded gate - I climbed the fence to avoid wet feet

looking back at the same gate with Mellbreak in the distance

in the tunnel

emerging from the tunnel

the path was flooded here requiring either a wade or a rocky scramble to avoid it

Fleetwith Pike ahead

looking over the lake to Comb Beck

a brave swimmer in the lake, although the Great North Swim in Windermere has been cancelled

another swimmer in this shot looking across to Comb Beck

looking down Gatesgarthdale Beck at Gatesgarth

looking up Gatesgarthdale Beck to some appropriately equipped walkers

looking down Warnscale Beck to Buttermere from Peggy's Bridge
