today's walk: Barf and Lord's Seat

water erosion on the track where I park my bike in Thornthwaite

this very minor road is virtually a river

Barf from the minor road

the ford on the minor road - pretty well impassable

the track up to Barf is more like a stream

not sure if this tree is a victim of recent gales or has been down for a long time

floods at the head of Bassenthwaite Lake as I approach the top of Barf

the flooded area at the head of Bass Lake

zooming in towards the osprey nest

looking north up Bass Lake to Binsey from Barf summit

panoramic shot of Bass Lake from Barf

looking south from Barf summit towards Causey Pike

looking back to Barf from near the top of Lord's Seat

zooming over the Solway to Criffel from Lord's Seat

a walker met on top heading for Barf from Lord's Seat summit

siskin on a feeder at Whinlatter Visitor Centre

pond on the way down

waterfall just below the pond

storm debris on the C2C cycle route ..

.. and serious erosion on the cycle track ..

.. and more fallen trees

Thornthwaite Church, apparently being drained of flood water
