today's walk: Honister Hause - Dale Head - Hindscarth - Portinscale

I've just got off this Honister Rambler bus at Honister Hause

looking down to Honister slate mine from the path up Dale Head

looking down the valley towards Buttermere with the top of Fleetwith Pike in cloud

another look down to the slate mine

zooming in on Buttermere with Mellbreak beyond

the big cairn on Dale Head in mist ..

.. but a short way down the ridge the dale of which Dale Head is head is clearly visible ..

.. and on the south side the stream running down to Buttermere

looking north from the ridge to Newlands Valley and mist covered Skiddaw

High Crag and Buttermere as mist clears away to the south

Hindscarth now clear of cloud with blue sky above

looking east to High Spy from the path to Hindscarth

Hindscarth summit with Wandope, Crag Hill, Sail, Grisedale Pike and Scar Crags behind

zooming in on Wandope, Crag Hill, Sail, Grisedale Pike and Scar Crags

as the ridge steepens looking over Newlands Valley to Ard Crags the Sail and Scar Crags with Grisedale Pike beyond

looking down the Scope End ridge at the northern end of the summit plateau

looking northeast from the same spot

the curving ridge of Scope End from lower down

the path along the eastern side of the ridge looking north to Skiddaw and Blencathra

looking in the same direction from further down the ridge

looking back up the valley with cloud still on Dale Head

further down Scope End with Newlands Valley below on the left

looking back up Scope End with Robinson to the right

looking north into Newlands Valley as the ridge steepens

looking west across Newlands Valley

Newlands Church

looking back at Hindscarth, Scope End and Robinson from the road up to Little Town ..

.. and again from the field path to Skelgill

at Nichol End
