today's walk: Ambleside - Stockghyll falls - Wansfell Pike - Troutbeck - Wain Lane - Brockhole

water in the lower reaches of Stock Ghyll suggest that the falls will be at their best ..

.. a guess substantiated by the first view of the falls

Stockghyll falls from slightly higher up the path

the historic revolving gate - now with a wheelchair friendly gate at the side

the step stile onto the path over Wansfell Pike to Troutbeck

an unexpected facility - possibly for Windermere Way walkers as I have now joined this new route

looking back down on sunny Ambleside from the path up Wansfell Pike

looking south along Windermere from Wansfell Pike

zooming in on the central part of Windermere

looking north along the ridge towards the true top of Wansfell with Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, Ill Bell and Yoke beyond

looking west from the top of Wansfell Pike

zooming in on the Langdale Pikes

joining Nanny Lane on the descent to Troutbeck

very boggy in Nanny Lane

descending into the Troutbeck Valley

the final descent into Troutbeck village

looking back north into the village

one of the wells on the road into Troutbeck

the village shop and Annie's clock

Townend historic house - closed at this time of the year

flooded fields at the top of Wain Lane

sudden sunshine looking north from the lane

looking back up Wain Lane - more of a river than a path

looking over Middlerigg Tarn

Wansfell Pike from the main road

Brockhole with a rainbow

another shot of the old house at Brockhole now the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre
