today's walk: Dodd and the osprey viewpoints

the foot of Bassenthwaite Lake from the lower osprey viewpoint at 9.30 before anyone else was there

the Coledale fells from the green marked track onto Dodd

the head of Bass Lake from the ascent track

a pleasant bit of the track higher up

zooming down into Newlands Valley

looking back down the ascent track to Bass Lake

another look down the ascent track with the Coledale fells in the distance

Derwentwater from the viewpoint seat south of the path up Dodd

the summit of Dodd appears from the ascent path

Dodd summit looking to Bass Lake

the head of Bass Lake from just west of the summit

looking down Bass Lake from the same spot

the Helvellyn ridge from Dodd summit

descending from Dodd with Derwentwater ahead

descending with Newlands Valley ahead

the descending forest track which leads to the upper osprey viewpoint

zooming in over Braithwaite to Causey Pike

looking south over blooming gorse

the head of Bass Lake from the upper osprey viewpoint - where I got a good view of an osprey on the nest through one of the telescopes

a green haze of sprouting larch as I look over Bass Lake on the way down

busy now at the lower viewpoint
