today's walk: Orrest Head

the ancient footpath sign

in very dubious weather I opted to walk the recommended clockwise circuit

this sign points up the bit I had not walked before

pleasantly climbing through the trees keeping off the drizzly rain

a field full of ragwort looking down on Windermere village and lake

once a kissing gate leading onto the top part of Orrest Head

the stone to the left of this entrance

the Wainwright viewfinder

there are many seats up here - the summit one is the least comfortable

looking west from the top

zooming in on the Langdale Pikes

looking down Windermere

zooming in north towards the Kentmere fells

leaving the summit area with a lot of water droplets on the gate

looking over some Windermere rooftops to the lake

not sure why there is an old-fashioned London Transport bus at Windermere station

the Coledale fells from the Keswick to Portinscale path

Catbells, Hindscarth and Robinson from the path

in Portinscale layby I find that the apprentices have rewired the fence we worked on last Wednesday

Skiddaw from Portinscale bridge - briefly in sunshine
