today's walk (Keswick rambling club): a circuit from Armathwaite in the Eden Valley

marvellous to see some sunshine here looking down on the River Eden

horses in the lane where we parked

the first gate below the Armathwaite bridge

snowdrops on the riverside track

ascending from the river into Coomb Wood

inspecting a sculpture at the spot where we had a coffee stop

close up of part of the sculpture relevant to walking

looking down on the River Eden from beside the sculpture

we leave Coomb Wood into sunshine and a short road walk

flood on the road just before we turn right

three donkeys looking at us over the roadside wall

two black swans in an area with several exotic birds

some of the stiles are quite awkward

the first lambs I've seen this spring

the sheep run off down the field as we approach - the fell behind here is the hump Blaze Fell

approaching the highest point of today's walk

heading for lunch at Ainstable church

the church from the west

descending westwards

the local red sandstone conspicuous in this stone wall

zooming in on some Lakeland fells

back on the banks of the River Eden

approaching the bridge at Armathwaite
